Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.” Isaiah 9:6-7

The Lord of the Universe stepped down from His throne, and entered our world as an infant. Not to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many.

In Isaiah 53:5-6 it says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Jesus represents: God and Man /  King and Servant/  Justice and Sacrifice

What a beautiful picture Isaiah has painted for us- Our God is a Lion and a Lamb. Such seemingly contradictory identities that all encompass our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is hard to believe that the year 2021 is coming to a close. I think the best word to summarize  this year is: Growth . Growth is a process. It can be painful, it can be challenging, and can stretch us in ways we don't want to be stretched. Growth is hard, but it can also produce something that is better, greater, and more beautiful than we ever thought or imagined. As you also look back through your year, we pray that you will also see the goodness of God in your life.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

We at times can work so hard on the outwardly things that we neglect the work that needs to be done in our hearts. When we focus our eyes on what needs to be done, we can quickly become overwhelmed. We do not want our eyes to be so focused on these things that we miss the big picture God was trying to show us. As a family, we are trying to be intentional on asking God what He wants us to do today, and how can we be a blessing to others through it. It is a choice, that our flesh fights daily against. In our own strength it is difficult to be more patient, loving, joyful, and peaceful. This is why they are called the fruits of the Spirit. It is not of us, but of Him. It requires aligning our desires with His. As we enter this new year, please pray our family would keep this perspective.

November and December Highlights

Twana School Teachers. These teachers worked hard this year as they had to battle many challenges with school closings and new regulations from the government. The school closings caused many of the students to fall behind, so the teachers had to adjust their planning frequently to meet the needs of the children. School is set to begin the 10th of January. Please pray for these teachers and the children they serve in this community.

The roof is on! Nate had 2 men from the community help him roof and now they are helping him with the plumbing and electrical process. We are praying that the builders can return to begin plastering the interior and finish the floor.
