Sweerin Fall Update

    As the Summer warmth begins to fade, and Fall has come. The cooler temperatures, harvest, and now the changing colors of  foliage all speak of Our Creator and His amazing ways. This season of preparation has been quite busy for us, but we wanted  to let our friends and family know how our planning process has been going in regards to Zambia. We truly wouldn't be taking this step of faith if we didn't have the encouragement and support of so many people, so we want to thank you all. 

    We've had a great summer enjoying the Bible conferences, going for lots of walks, spending time with family, neighbors, and friends, and working on the Zambia School Project. In July, we had the privilege of sharing with some old friends about our heart for Zambia and it was a blessing and encouragement to us to see them all again. In September, we submitted and received approval for our Work Visa. This will allow us to enter into Zambia legally. We were not expecting to be denied, but we were thankful to see the approval letter as it was such a necessary step in being able to go and minister there. 

    So what's next? We are in communication with a travel agent to help us begin the process of finding and purchasing plane tickets. This is such a big step for us and would really like you all to be praying for us as we discern the timing of all of these things. We are looking at  the beginning of November at this time. All along we have desired the Lord’s timing in this and we will continue to ask Him to lead us as we continue to take steps

I am amazed and honestly surprised each time I write a new blog post how much time has gone by since the previous blog update. As I reread the last blog update, I was reminded of how God desires our devotion, our time, our thoughts, and I was once again challenged. For many of us who have a list of things we hope to accomplish each day, it can become so easy to lose perspective, and begin to strive in our own strength. As we strive, we can walk farther away from the rest that God desires us to have. I know I have mentioned in previous updates, but it is a lesson I am still learning. To abide . Elijah Dale Sweerin 9/22/13

We come to you with saddened hearts as we have had a rough past couple of days. For some reason God decided to take our baby home to be with Him. On Saturday evening Melanie started having some mild contractions. We assumed it was braxton hicks or a false labor and decided to wait it out a bit as they weren’t getting stronger. After waking up around 5:30-6 in the morning we could tell they were getting stronger and we would need to make a plan. By 7:30am on Sunday the baby was born and had only a few breaths before going home to be with Jesus. The helicopter arrived  around 8:30 and the paramedic attempted to resuscitate him but his lungs were filled with fluid and collapsed. It just wasn’t time for Elijah Dale Sweerin. Our hearts are broken as we question why this happened to us but we are trusting in God’s perfect plan. He knows exactly why this happened and what our families future will hold. Zambia Update

Hello everyone, We want to update you on how things are going with our Zambia planning. Back in July we were able to send a lot of our belongings, school curriculum, and solar panel equipment. We are excited to share that all of our items have arrived and will be picked up by our friends this week, and taken back to the mission of love property. We also wanted to inform everyone that we have purchased our plane tickets for November 18th. We are so thankful for our family, friends, and church body as you have supported us financially, shared many encouraging words with us, and have continually prayed for our family. Thank you.
